Tony Volante is a highly respected supervising mixer who regularly collaborates with distinguished filmmakers including Jim Jarmusch, Derek Cianfrance, Oren Moverman, and Thomas Kail. Tony’s film mixing debut was on Todd Solondz’s Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winning Welcome to the Dollhouse

His extensive nonfiction resume includes credits such as Liz Garbus’ Becoming Cousteau, Ron Howard’s We Feed People, Alex Gibney’s The Forever Prisoner and Agents of Chaos, Nathaniel Kahn’s The Hunt for Planet B, Jesse Moss’ Boys State and Mayor Pete, and Fisher Stevens’ All: In the Fight For Democracy. He has also applied his music career experience to enhance music-focused films, working with musicians such as Phish, The Ramones, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.  

In addition to his film and episodic credits, Tony has mixed and recorded for Grammy Award-winning artists such as Donald Fagen of Steely Dan and Roger Daltrey of The Who.  

Tony’s work on Becoming Cousteau earned him a 2022 HPA Award nomination. He also earned a CAS Award and an Emmy nomination for his work on Disney’s Hamilton, and three additional Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Fosse/Verdon, Going Clear: Scientology & the Prison of Belief, and What Happened Miss Simone?

Most recently, Tony was nominated for a 2024 Primetime Emmy for Best Sound Mixing for his work on Jim Henson: Idea Man.
